I have a Clausing model 6913 lathe. It's an oldie but a goody. I was wondering if anyone knows if the lathe can cut metric threads? The book shows to cut metric threads, the half-nuts have to remain engaged through the whole threading process. I can understand that, but I don't understand how to figure out what thread settings to use to cut 1.25 or 1.50 pitch threads??

A lathe with an english leadscrew can cut metric threads with the proper change gears. You need a 127 tooth and a 100 tooth on the same shaft as transposing gears. You probably need several other change gears as well. If you don't have a quick change box for threading you will probably need some additional gears. Several years ago I bought metric change gears for my SB 10K. It included a chart showing the placement of gears and the pitch to select on the threading box. If you can get a picture of the chart for your lathe you can figure out which change gears you need. Failing that, Machinerys Handbook can probably lead you through the process of selecting gears. One important thing: Once you start a metric thread you must not open the half nuts until yjr thread is comploeted.
